Miyama thatched village
MIYAMA
Miyama, written 美山 in Japanese, means ‘beautiful mountains’ as steep mountains surround the region on all sides. Miyama Town is located in the center of Kyoto Prefecture approximately 50kms north of Kyoto City. Students can firstly enjoy visiting lively Osaka and historical temples, shrines and traditional area in the ancient capital of Kyoto. Then travel by bus to their homestay in rural Miyama, enjoy activities, visit a school and immerse themselves in one of the 26 villages scattered throughout this farming district. Perhaps even stay in one of the many thatched cottages, stroll the nearby river and enjoy time spent with your homestay family.
